Magazine Pages as Art

I saw a great post the other day on the blog A Cup of Jo about framing Magazine pages for easy and gorgeous artwork. I really love this idea and will be going for it this weekend. There's so many wonderful images in just one magazine - from the eye-catching ads to the wonderfully thought-out editorials...all can make for great and fashionable artwork.

I'll have to go through my saved magazines to find which images I like best, but here are some magazine ads/editorials I saw online that I think would look amazing when framed.

What do you think? Would you like this style of artwork for your home?

Manish Malhotra - Wills Lifestyle India Fashion Week AW 13

Another post on Indian Fashion today, hooray! But it comes with good reason - Wills Lifestyle India Fashion Week is underway, and there's plenty of eye candy for us to see. Let's start with Manish Malhotra's collection, which was all about Phulkari embroidery - a traditional form of embroidery from Punjab, India. I've actually been kind of unimpressed with Manish Malhotra as of late - all of his designs ended up looking the same ol', same ol' and a little too flashy aka "Bollywood" if you know what I mean. But not this collection. The designer showed us some really fashion-forward pieces this time, in a dark-ish color palette, and here's a look at some of them. Enjoy and happy, happy weekend!

Sari Pants

I love when designers play with the silhouettes of Indian wear. And boy did designer Anamika Khanna have some fun with her play! She's brought forth the Sari Pant, a look that screams funky and fresh. Now it may not work as far as lasting power goes, but it's fun for now and that's what trends are all about. Plus, seeing Bollywood actress Sonam Kapoor embrace this style with élan makes it even more lust-worthy. Now the question is, what do you think? Would you wear this trend?

P.S. - How gorgeous (and different!) is this suit? It's also by Anamika Khanna. Love.

Wrist Style

Let's talk about some delicious arm candy today! I'm not much of an arm candy gal - I just wear my watch and wedding band on a daily basis, and that's about it. But I do love the way some girls layer on pieces together and make it look so very fabulous. I have a few bracelets/threads that are meaningful to me - perhaps I'll throw all of them on together and go for this look too. Here are a few photos for inspiration. But do tell - what's your wrist style?

P.S. - It's really easy to get this look. Start with a great watch like the Michael Kors "Camille Chronograph" watch in two-tone. Two-tone is rocks because it matches with both your yellow gold and white gold/silver pieces. Win-win! Then, it's bracelet time. Think about what symbols or phrases mean most to you. Many go for the Evil Eye or Hamsa symbol, or perhaps the Infinity sign. If nothing speaks out to you, go for a classic link bracelet - it's timeless and can be passed down. Another idea is making your own bracelets! Make some with your girlfriends for DIY goodness.

More Silk Saris

Remember my love letter to Silk Saris not too long ago? Well the admiration hasn't quite stopped yet - here are a few more silk/traditional sari looks I'm loving. I think I'll be grabbing one from my Mom soon!

New Hair Product Crushes

Drybar has become a hot spot for blowouts in the DC area lately - everyone is raving about the place, with pictures of gorgeous hair to match. I've yet to go there, but was pleasantly surprised to see that Sephora now carries some of their products. They've got to be great, right?! I'm looking forward to trying their Weightless Shampoo and Conditioner, and the Volumizing Mousse, too. Since I cut my hair short, I've been going for the wavy/messy look a lot, and the more volume that it has, the better.

But the one product I continue to be obsessed, and I mean OBSESSED, with? The Oribe Dry Texturizing Spray. My sister-in-law told me about this baby and everything you hear about it is true - it's amaaaaaaaazing for creating volume and texture. And it's a dry shampoo. Trust me, I am not a big hair/makeup person, but even I can use this product with ease and see great results.

Have a great weekend, all!

Bar Cart Fun

I have a bar cart at home, and after looking at these images, I'm inspired to keep it well-stocked and looking pretty at all times, too.

Want this look? It's easy! You can get a great bar cart from good ol' Amazon. There are so many to choose from - just read the reviews to make sure you're getting a good piece. And for sparkly and special barware to serve in, I'd head over to Neiman Marcus. Done and done - now enjoy your very own cocktail hour at home.

The Best in Grey - Spring 2013

It probably comes as no surprise that I love the color Grey. For some reason, items in grey always happen to catch my eye - it's just got that subdued-chic-effortless vibe going on. From bags to shoes to dresses, and from simple to embellished, here are a few of my Grey loves for this Spring. Check out my previous Grey loves here and here....and some "Greige" love here!

3.1 Phillip Lim Sequin Sweatpants
You gotta love these Sequin Sweatpants. I sure do. They have disco fun written all over them,  and the relaxed fit means you can be comfortable all night long. I like that! Just pair with a tucked-in, simple white blouse and black heels (like it's shown), and you're done. Easy glamour.

Alexander Wang Prisma Lizard Embossed Tote
This tote is awesome, isn't it? I really like it's simple silhouette - it's clean-line design is very chic. Plus, the embossed leather gives it a luxe look, and that cool gold hardware provides some extra oomph. I want it.

Milly Mirrored Python Pencil Skirt
Oh yes, sexy glamour! This attention-grabbing skirt is a hottie. It's just so pretty and shiny. And we girls love ourselves some pretty, shiny things.

Diane von Furstenberg Danette Sweater Dress
I love this type of dress. Again, it's that effortless vibe that speaks to me, and this dress has plenty of it. The fit is easy, the sequins add glamour, and with the right pair of shoes, this look is perfect for cocktails with your girlfriends.

Ash Alex Hidden Wedge Sneakers
I have these sneakers in Blue and Grey, and they are one of my best purchases. This color combo of all neutrals is even better. These sneaks look great with your skinny jeans and just about any top. And their very-much-on-trend factor add  to their appeal.

JBrand Super Skinny Coated Metallic Jeans
True fact: I wear my black skinny jeans basically everyday, and I usually pair them with a black blazer too, so adding these to my wardrobe would add some jazzy fun to my all black uniform. I love the rockstar feel of these jeans - they are sleek, sexy, and oh so cool.

Vince Lana Metallic Sandals
And last, but certainly not least, are these stylish sandals. A simple toe strap, a double two-tone ankle strap, and a block heel - all kinds of trends in just one shoe! I think these would look so good with pretty much everything this Spring.

Silk Saris

Silk Saris are amazing. Sure, Chiffons and Nets and Halter Blouses carry a lot of pizzazz and sex appeal - but nothing, and I mean nothing, looks as divine as a rich, Silk Sari. In my opinion, they are the true definition of Indian style - always beautiful, always vibrant, and always graceful. Here are some that I'm loving lately..can't wait to wear one soon.
